Build a route map before comparing addresses
Use U.S. 75, U.S. 380, and S.H. 121 / Sam Rayburn Tollway as reference corridors, then test the full door-to-door trip. Include recurring destinations beyond work when they are relevant to your stated plans.
- Test normal departure and return windows in both directions.
- Note toll costs and realistic alternate routes.
- Repeat the test after weather, school calendars, or construction patterns change.
Keep construction in the comparison
TxDOT reported that construction on the initial Spur 399 / S.H. 5 expansion began in June 2025 and anticipated completion in early 2029. Project timing can change, so use the current TxDOT project material and live travel tools instead of promising a completion date or future travel time.
Describe transit eligibility precisely
McKinney’s City transit page describes Collin County Transit as a subsidized, on-demand shared-ride service. Riders must be 18 or older and qualify under at least one listed category: age 65 or older, disability, or low income. It is not presented as unrestricted fixed-route commuter service. Eligibility, fares, and availability should be verified directly.
Use employer lists as context, not a job promise
McKinney Economic Development Corporation publishes a current notable-employer list. It can show the range of organizations with a local presence, but it does not establish a vacancy, worksite, commute, remote-work policy, or continued operation. Verify those facts on the employer’s own current channels.
