Begin with the full street address
Use the applicable district locator only after you have a complete address. McKinney ISD publishes 2026–27 zone maps and an address locator, but a city name, ZIP code, nearby campus, or listing remark is not an enrollment guarantee.
Use TEA mapping as an initial district check
The Texas Education Agency says its geographic boundaries are approximate and not intended to establish attendance zones or legal boundaries. TEA does not collect local attendance-zone data. Confirm the final campus assignment with the responsible school district.
Read ratings and report cards as dated inputs
TXSchools provides official accountability information for a stated reporting year. Record the year and access date, review the underlying measures, and treat the result as one input rather than a permanent label or prediction about an individual student.
- Check the current reporting year and methodology.
- Review programs, transfers, transportation, schedules, and enrollment rules directly with the district.
- Ask the campus questions that matter to the student instead of relying on neighborhood commentary.
Repeat the same verification for every finalist
- Save the dated district-locator result.
- Confirm the assignment and any pending boundary changes with the district.
- Open the current TXSchools campus page and note its data year.
- Recheck before a contract decision if assignment is material.
